How tough can one handheld get?
If you are utilizing mobile software like Zenventory for on-the-go warehouse management, then we must recommend the Zebra TC70 rugged handheld computer. It offers business-class durability and security and it’s as easy for employees to use as their own mobile devices. The TC70 is a combination of software beauty and hardware beast; it’s strong on the outside with it’s rugged armor and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 while running elegantly with a 1.7 GHz dual core processor with Android KitKat on the inside. It also has 1 GB RAM / 8 GB Flash pSLC and network connections for USB 2.0 high speed and WLAN/WiFi.
It is similar in design to the TC55 handheld but it is much larger with more heft. 6.3 in. x 3.3 in. x 1.1 in and weighing in at 13.3 oz, the TC70 is a bit bigger than the iPhone 6+. The larger screen is a 1280 x 720 display in 4.7 high definition. It is also nice and bright for using outdoors as well as under florescent lighting in warehouse or backrooms. The dual touch screen works with gloved hands and a stylus (sold separately) without having to switch settings. With its push-to-talk feature, you can use the TC70 as a walkie talkie to communicate with other employees and supervisors back in the office. It uses a dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n radio, WiFi, NFC, and Bluetooth 4.0, but does not include mobile broadband.
The notifications settings features an LED light, vibration, and audible tones that go up to 108 dB (that’s 4x louder than the loudest consumer phone). It has a rear facing camera with an 8MP auto-focus and a front facing camera with a 1.3 MP fixed focus. Video recording capabilities are also included which also allows for video calls. The TC70 includes three microphone support with noise cancellation, speaker, and Bluetooth wireless headset support. The scanner is an industrial grade SE4750 imager for capturing 1D and 2D barcodes. The laser aiming allows for scanning from up to 3 feet away with a bright light to see what and where you are scanning.
Some fun facts:
It can handle a 6 foot drop onto concrete
Thanks to its IP67 sealing, it can be completely submerged in water
It operates in temperatures ranging from -4 degrees Fahrenheit to 122 degrees Fahrenheit
Comes with a range of accessories like an Ethernet cradle, a charging cup, and an MRS attachment, just to name a few
