How do I get started with the API?
Simply generate an API Key and Secret for any user by navigating to Admin > Users > API Keys in the Zenventory web interface. Once generated, these credentials enable secure access to the REST API endpoints.
Is the API secure?
Yes! Zenventory’s API requires each request to use a unique API Key and API Secret for authentication. These are only displayed once during creation, so keep them safe or regenerate as needed for ongoing security.
What can I do with the REST API?
You can automate inventory updates, manage orders and shipments, streamline fulfillment, and more. The REST API offers broad endpoint coverage for inventory management, ensuring you have the power and flexibility to fit any workflow.

Why do ShipStation API keys sometimes expire earlier than I expect?
ShipStation API keys have configurable expiration durations of 3, 6, or 12 months, set at generation and recommended to be 12 months for maximum convenience.
However, a key can expire “early” if it is manually rotated, deleted, or if security policies change and force early invalidation.
Always double-check your selected expiration period, watch for expiration alert emails from ShipStation, and reissue credentials immediately if access is lost to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
